I am making a sweet potato casserole and need a substitute for butter that won’t change the flavor too much.
Does anyone know what Vegans use as a substitute for butter? And have you tried it before? Does it taste good to regular butter eaters?
Thanks.

Butter is from cow or goat . What you want is margarine. They make that with corn oil or safflower oil or olive oil or some other plant oil.
Butter is animal and nothing else is butter. As for margarine, yes some have a more of a paticular flavor to them. For non flavor, I choose Parkay or Imperial.

There is NO such thing as a substitute for butter, period.

Earth Balance is the best.
Be careful with Smart Balance, as most varieties aren’t vegan. They do have a vegan product, and I do believe it will be marked as such.

Earth Balance kicks all kind of bum in the kitchen!
I love it and use it quite often. As others have said – you cannot tell the difference.
