Thinking About Going Vegan…?

I have been vegetarian for a year now, still going strong, after I found out on oeta2 what they do to animals on Ol’ McDonald’s farm (load of crap.) I never really took much notice to becoming vegan until I found out that there is all of that stuff in things like milk and cheese, such as intestines, urine, pus, and everything in between.

The way I figure, I think I could be vegan. I already know where to find fake meats, but does anyone know where I can find things such as replacements for:

+ milk
+ cheese
+ eggs
+ sweets (like cake and ice cream)

Thanks for helping!!

  1. Steph Says:

    Milk: Soy/rice/almond milk
    Cheese: Soy Cheeze
eggs: there are a variety or=f replacements, ener-g being one of them.
sweets: there are vegan baking mixes, and soy ice cream!

  2. mrs.spankme Says:

Milk: Soy, rice, oat and almond milk.

Cheese: There are soy mock cheese products on the market. They can come in slices, blocks, shredded and whatnot. They do not taste the same as animal cheese at all. But some of them can be quite nice. You can also find cream cheese as well.

Eggs: The actual egg itself as say… a poached egg on toast you will never find again. There is such thing as “egg replacer” though if you plan to use it in cooking for cakes and cookies. You should be able to find it in supermarkets. If not you can find them in health food stores in a box. Replacement for eggs on a side note (for cooking and binding of food) can be avocado and banana.

Sweets: You can make your own sweets if you like. But if you don’t have the time there are other options out there. Some dark chocolates are on the market that are vegan. Just check the back of the packaging. Ice cream becomes soy ice cream and cakes which are egg, dairy and animal free can sometimes be hard to find. Instead, I choose to make my own and they are really yummy. There are also substitutes to cream as well. If your not sure you can also find some of these things online and find out your local stockist.

Ok first of all heres the steps if you wanna go vegan that will help you:

1- drink silk instead of milk

2-try a veggie pizza it also contains less calories

3- if your having problems with meat craving try fake meat its made with veggies and not the “real meat”

4- make a food list of everything your choosing to eat and everything your not then, set a date for yourself if your choosing to go vegan for 2 months then once you get to 2 months give yourself a reward keep doing this over and over and you wanna go vegan for a long period of time.

I hoped this helped I just currently turned vegan and these steps helped me a lot so thats why im sharing this with other people with meat cravings that want to be vegan :)

Do you live near a whole foods? If so, you are covered.

If you became vegetarian for ethical reasons, becoming vegan is the next logical step. Factory farming is appalling, and is not just limited to the production of meat. The hens that produce eggs and the cows that produce milk are not not treated humanely at factory farms. If you can be a vegetarian, you can be a vegan!

There are quite a few milk alternatives available, soy milk and rice milk are both delicious. In my opinion, soy milk tastes much more delicious than cow’s milk.

Follow Your Heart brand soy cheese is the only soy cheese that is worth eating. It melts, and tastes fantastic. Great for mac & cheese, pizza, and grilled cheese. If you are making an Italian dish that calls for ricotta cheese (lasagna, stuffed shells, etc), use extra firm tofu mixed with fresh garlic and Italian herbs. You will barely be able to tell the difference.

Egg replacer is available in most health food stores, but is really only good for baking. If you like scrambled eggs, try a tofu scramble with fresh veggies.

If you have a sweet tooth, you should invest in a vegan cookbook. Many of your favorite recipes can be baked in a vegan friendly manner. Cupcakes, cookies, pies and cakes are all easily made vegan. If you don’t feel up to the task of baking your own sweet treats, check out your local health food store or the organic/health food store section in your grocery store. You may be surprised at how many items are vegan. Most grocery stores stock vegan ice cream these days, Tofutti makes ice cream, ice cream sandwiches, and fudge bars.

Toffutti also makes a delicious vegan cream cheese and sour cream. Your non-vegan friends will hardly notice a difference.

    Best of luck!

Milk – soy milk, rice milk, almond milk, quinoa milk, rice milk, oat milk or hemp milk. You can drink them, put them in coffee, or use them as milk subsitutes in cooking.

Cheese – there are a few soya cheese substitutes out there, I’m not sure of the names.

Eggs – EnerG egg replacer, and there are other brands of egg replacer available. For cooking you can use egg replacer, tofu, oils, bananas, or soy yoghurt as an egg substitute.

Sweets – Soya ice cream, soya desserts, Tofutti. It’s also really easy to make vegan cakes/muffins/cupcakes/biscuits and so on, and there are widely available products which are vegan.
