I have a large range of cakes that can be used for weddings and celebrations and even more frostings. However I intend to remain small, maybe one or two wedding cakes a week tops. Any suggestions on how to handle tastings? It wouldn't be time or cost effective to make 10 flavors of cakes on demand. Do you freeze cake? Or make up really small quantities? Also, do you ever cater to functions for a cake where a handful of the guests are vegan, lactose intolerant etc and so are you asked to provide a small cake on the side? And finally, any tips in covering myself for a bride who doesn't like the cake on the day? I intend to get a good consultation, provide sketches and get an order signed, but any other suggestions would be great. I don't want to run foul of a bridezilla! I am in Northern California. Thank you so much! Question #6:Do you think a Vegan bakery would do well in Sacramento, ca?It would offer gluten-free and dairy-free treats, including sandwiches, pizza and soup at lunch. Cupcakes, cakes, muffins, cookies, cinnamon buns, etc. during the day.Question #7:Best recipes from Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World? So my friends and I all like to have dinner parties. It's stupid I know. Anyway My bf is inviting me and my friends to his place for a dinner party and some of his friends are skeptical about vegan food. I remember last time we all got together, they would tease me because I couldn't eat half of the stuff they brought. >__>So one of my vegan friends and I are making the most sinful delicious food vegan style. Also, my school is having an animal rights thing soon (I'm a huge part of that of course) and I am going to make vegan sweets to show people how good things can taste without using animal products. First on my list is cupcakes for both occasions. I have only had vegan cupcakes once from a vegan bakery. I have had Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World for a year or two now but I have just never made any of the recipes. Which cupcakes and icings do you recommend most? I am thinking of trying the basic chocolate cupcake and golden vanilla cupcake, with the vanilla buttercream frosting. How are they? That's the basics that I just think you must have. Then I am thinking of making the peanut butter cupcakes and the gingerbread cupcakes with coconut pecan frosting. HAve any of you made these? Question #8:How cruel is it to tell your daughter not to eat a cupcake because she'll get fat?My friend has been going through a rough patch, and so I made a special trip to a famous cupcake bakery that she adores and stood in a freaking long line for 40 minutes just to get it for her, and then brought it to her house thinking it would cheer her up, and was stunned that her face totally fell when she saw it. Her mom has been giving her grief about her weight, and said she'd be annoyed if she ate the cupcake. I thought she was joking, and then her mom actually came in and pretty much repeated it and made a snarky comment about how not everyone had a super fast metabolism like mine. She insinuated that the reason my friend didn't make a competitive dance team is because she was too "chunky." Um. It's one of the most competitive dance teams in the country, and plenty of toothpick skinny girls didn't make it, so that's not the case at all. My friend is 17 and very pretty, and maybe a size 8 or so. Idk. She's definitely not fat. I asked if my friend wanted to at least take a bite of it, and she said no thank you because that would still be too much fat and sugar. So, I left with the cupcake in the box, unopened. So then I went home and was ranting about it to my parents, and somehow we ended up having an argument about how I'm too thin and too hyper-vigilant about what I eat because I wouldn't just eat the cupcake myself. I'm not going to eat because 1) I'm vegan and they know that, and the cupcake has eggs and milk in it, 2) it's red velvet and even before I was a vegan hated red velvet, 3) I'm too annoyed. Is it not totally and completely ludicrous to have so much drama over a cupcake? Why would a mother totally give her a complex about her weight when she's not fat at all, or my parents totally not give it a rest because I'm thin? >.< *sorry for the typos. I'm writing from my phone + I'm annoyed.* MummyJacks: If I could ship the cupcake to you through email I totally would. Someone should just enjoy the freaking cupcake. You know, the reason people stand in such a long line at that bakery is because Oprah said their cupcakes are her favorite? So, you'd like it. I'd wanted it to bring my friend a smile, not start such melodrama. *sighs* Question #9:How to start my own business....?I'm in the process of starting my own business but this is my first time with business endeavors such as this and I'm terrified that I'm going to overlook something serious. Does anyone know (step-by-step even) which steps I need to take to get this thing going? It will be a bakery (specializing in gourmet cupcakes, individual and for parties, events, etc. but will also offer cakes, other pastries, gourmet candy as well as vegan options) and for now I would just like for it to be home-based if at all possible. Can anyone point me in the right direction??Question #10:Vegan cupcakes? desserts in Orange County, CA?I know there are many vegan cupcake spots in LA, but none in OC. I was wondering if anyone knew of a bakery or place that sold good vegan desserts (Au Lac, Whole Foods).cakes, cupcakes, cookies... etc Question #11:What is a good name for a bakery? The bakery would specialize in cupcakes, but thats not all it will have. There will be a selection of vegan products & doggy treats as well.Question #12:Would it freak her out if I left her a birthday gift?Hey! You guys are really helpful for stuff like this that I don't feel comfortable asking other people. Basically there's this girl in my Chemistry class that I met in a study group. We get along really well and for the past couple of months we've sat next to each other and walked each other out of class. Tomorrow (well Today) is her birthday, and she's a vegetarian, so I was thinking of going to this Vegan bakery by my dorm and buying her a cupcake (they're supposed to be good with all natural ingredients, I'm not a vegan connoisseur by any stretch of the imagination) and leaving her a note to pick up at the front desk of her dorm. I think it might be a nice gesture, but I don't want to freak her out or anything. Is this a good idea or should I just leave her a facebook message. Thanks a lot for your help, you guys have always been great.** Powered by Yahoo Answers |
