Vegan UK shortening substitute for icing cakes?

I just got Isa Moskowitz+ Terry romero’s cupcakes book, and I need a substitute for vegetable shortening that can be found in the UK and can be used to make icing. Will something like trex do?

Trex is/ was always a vegetable shortening, but is/ used to be made by Johnson & Johnson who are not high on the animal rights league table. It is usually available in sizeable supermarkets. There is also a vegetable suet which you could possibly substitute – sorry, can’t remember the name but is usually available in health food stores & supermarkets.
